Being a Hampton Roads native who is committed enhancing the growth and prosperity of the community, this NFL Hall of Fame football player has been involved in local real estate development since 1995. His goals are to concentrate on projects which build partnerships with local governments that will create jobs and help increase the quality of life of Hampton Roads residents, as well as to form lasting business relationships with subcontractors and vendors to construct high quality products everyone will be proud of. D. B. “Bart” Frye, Jr.
Bart began his housing career with the Norfolk Redevelopment & Housing Authority in 1965, before being named Executive Director of the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority in 1971.
In 1978, Bart formed Frye Properties, Inc. a real estate development and management firm headquartered in Norfolk. The company has acquired and rehabilitated more than 5,000 units in 22 complexes in the Southeast. Frye Properties is involved in developments in Richmond, Norfolk, and Charlottesville. Bart is also the managing partner of East Beach, a 100-acre New Urbanist neighborhood on the Chesapeake Bay in Norfolk, Va. East Beach has won numerous local and national awards for excellence in design, planning, and construction.
